Overnight stays in Bulgaria rise 19% Y/Y in Q3 2011
The number of overnight stays in Bulgaria rose by 18.9 per cent year-on-year to 1.769 million in the third quarter of 2011, the National Statistics Institute (NSI) said on November 18 2011.
In July-September, overnight stays of Bulgarians grew by an annual 13.8 per cent, while the number of foreigners' overnights went up by 20.8 per cent.
The largest growth of overnights was registered in tourists from China, of 111.7 per cent, followed by Lithuania (84.1 per cent), Latvia (82 per cent) and Ukraine (74.2 per cent).
The country's income from overnight stays increased by 15.2 per cent on the year in the quarter, with proceeds from stays of Bulgarian and foreign tourists rising by 20 per cent and 14 per cent, respectively.
The average bed occupancy rate stood at 49.5 per cent in July-September, up by 9.6 percentage points compared to 2010.
